So.. it's already Day 6!!! Of the Winter/Holiday Coffee Lovers Blog Hop! I really can't believe it's almost over. I'm starting to get that sinking feeling I get when vacation's almost over... trying to stuff it back down... we still have two more days to go!! Ok... shove it out of my mind. I suppose it's a good thing since I've done almost nothing to get ready for the holidays. Well, on the bright side, Lori Hairston's Visions of Sugarplums Challenge over at her Choux Choux Paper Art Blog goes on 'til the 20th so..... I think I can stretch out the fun a few more days... and then Christmas!!
Ok.. my project..I needed to make a birthday card for a girl I work with who, like me, LOVES her coffee. Not that we see much snow here in the Phoenix area, but it has been unusually cold the last few days and I even had to cover my cactus! Poor things! So I thought a winter coffee theme would be perfect. And .. she loved it! The Enjoy sentiment is from one of my My Favorite Things sentiment sets I purchased recently from Butterfly Reflections Ink. The little macaroons are from the Cup of Cheer set (the adorable one with the little squirrels) and the to go cup is from CTMH Treats of Friendship. The background paper is White Pines and the paper for the cup is some of the DCWV paper that mom shared with me. It's pretty and glittery! I Kinda like glitter...
The wrapper has a little coffee bean on it, but I replaced that with a blue cardstock circle, a Paper Sweeties snowflake sequin and another flower shaped cup sequin also from Paper Sweeties and immersed them in liquid glass-my all time favorite embellishment. The cool little gold doily came from a shopping trip to Michael's last week where I found quite a few things that I "needed".
The ribbon is also from Michael's. I had to kind of piece it together because it's only printed on one side so I taped a strip across the card and then took another strip and folded the edges and glued them together. Then I tied another little strip around it and knotted it and kind of forced the tails to lay the same way. Then I glued it all in to place.. making sure I cinched the flat piece where the bow would have been tied. Maybe there is an easier way to do it.. I don't know... but it got the job done! I think it looks like one piece...?
That snowflake in the center... I placed an order from Funkie Junkie quite some time ago. And in my order was a little wax paper baggie with some of these white paper punched snowflakes; a mini vintage picture to place on a project, and a cute little snowflake charm... like for a necklace but of course it will end up on a project. This is what I like about ordering from these places. The personal touch. Sometimes it's a little extra gift... sometimes it's a handwritten note.. and always everything is packaged with quite a lot of care. Yeah... I still go to Michaels or Hobby Lobby from time to time... but I've really taken to shopping from the types of shops that sponsor this hop and I've had all great experiences. Butterfly Reflections Ink, Funkie Junkie, Lawn Fawn, Neat & Tangled, Verve, Ellen Hutson, Oh! Latina Crafter... awesome shop for everyone... in fact I've already seen some things I "need" from her that I didn't get the first time around, Paper Sweeties, Newton's Nook... Pretty Pink Posh... hmmm... Looking back at this list I think I have a problem... Stamplorations!! OMG.. Becca's adorable Caffeinated Christmas... I'll stop now. You get the point. Can you tell I try to share the love?...lol! OH! 'Lil Inker (my purple bear)....
Very pretty card, Lisa, love the colors! Happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card, love all the die-cut doilies and layering. Funny, I'm writing comments about this card, and took a second look and noticed that one die-cut in the back and looked like the blue one you showed me this weekend. Still nothing dawned on me, and I was going to mention the CTMH blue paper that I never know what to do with it, and then I thought boy this is a card Lisa would like because of the layering and embellishments and then I look at the side of the blog and realized it was your blog, I went up to the top again just to verify, and it was you. You certainly have a distinct style. Beautiful Lisa.
ReplyDeleteoh, forgot to mention the beautiful bow and ribbon.

ReplyDeleteYeah, this hop can be hard on the credit card hehe! Your card is gorgeous and I think the birthday girl will love it! The gold really caught my eye and I think I need to use more gold! And I've been noticing a lot of doilies and doily dies during this hop - I hardly ever remember to use doilies so I guess I need to get mine out and leave them on my craft desk to remind me!
ReplyDeletePretty card. Love the doilies. TFS

In a word, stunning. Perfect papers, colors and design. Love all the little details and especially love your ribbon. Absolutely gorgeous card. Bev
