Celebrating the New Year with The Cutting Cafe

So yeah... I know it's not Christmas yet... and no... I'm not done with all of my cards.. or shopping... or decorating....or baking yet...lol!  BUT!  Here at the Cutting Cafe we won't be back with another DT post until after the holidays including New Years so here's my wish for you... I hope that the universe brings you all of the love, happiness, and peace in the New Year your soul can hold!

Today I used the Happy New Year Word Shaped Card.  I just love the shaped cards available at the Cutting Cafe and there are so many!  And if you're looking for something to help you celebrate the New Year click here and see the many New Years themed sets that Regina carries in the shop!

Shaped cards can be tricky to decorate... so you can leave them plain because what an impact just with the shape and the papers you use... but I like to find a spot where there's enough room to embellish, but it won't get in the way of the word.. 'cause there's always a spot... and this is where I put mine.  I used a beautiful fabric flower that Yvonne Yam sent me as part of a prize package from Lessology before I was on the Design Team.. I've been saving this one for something special!  I also used some of my barely there gold mesh ribbon.. some leaves and other die cuts I had laying on my table-extras leftover from previous projects and some gold sequins..

These papers are from SEI and a friend was cleaning out her stash and she gave me this pad and this stripe was perfect because of the gold stripes it had running through it ... I thought it would be just right for a New Years Celebration!  And see how I decorated the inside but again, strategically placed it so only a few bits and pieces show through that could be part of the outside decorations....

But really the inside has its own party going on!  I added an extra layer of vellum on the inside for fun.. it had those pretty gold polka dots and I thought it would add to the fun.  Snowflakes to peek through.. a leftover part of a doily.. a sentiment from an old old CTMH set that is now retired  on the same background paper from the front and in between the letters was enough space for some gold shimmer trim.

Happiness to you and yours from all of us hanging out over at The Cutting Cafe!  Be sure to check out all of the Design Team makes... head over to the Cutting Cafe Blog on the 21st to hop through and have a chance to win some files!
