Welcome to some Cutting Cafe Inspiration! This time around Regina challenged us to create notepads from a shaped card file! I wasn't sure what I was going to do... I'm a practical person and sometimes that gets in the way of my creativity! I was like... I don't want to make something that I love and then it gets used up and I don't have it any more! But I took the challenge!
So, I pulled the Tall Sundae files into my Design Space program and resized them per the instructions that come with the file. Then I cut my pieces and instead of cutting the card base, I cut two of the bottom layers... one to use as a front of my notepad and one as a back-using heavier cardstock than the paper I'd use in the middle. I chose some Doodlebug papers in some fun patterns and pretty colors. Once they were cut, I softly distressed the edges just for a little dimension and glued all of the pieces on my base. And as I was creating this (adorable) tall Sundae from the Sweet Treats Shaped Cards file, I had an idea! I decided to use some Copic paper for the inside pages and make this:
My Sweet Book of Colors - a place where I could record all of my favorite color combos for future reference when I was trying to remember what greens I love the most for leaves or what pinks I love the most for flowers.
And I've started recording already! Isn't that little kitty adorable ... you can get her here in The Cutting Cafe Shop if you want her... I know you do! I used her to record a Warm Gray combo that I love to use and my favorite colors for noses, cheeks and inside ears.. not to mention cute little tongues. And that pretty pot of violets... I used them to record one of my favorite pink combos and green too... we use these combos all the time in our coloring classes with Jennifer Dove so I pretty much know, but you know how it goes.. some days I might forget..lol! So I'll continue to use this cute little pad to record. And in the future I can switch it out for a bigger ring and add more pages if I want! LOVE this idea Regina! Thank you!
So thanks for stopping by! I hope you were inspired to look at some of your cutting files a little differently! What kind of notepad would you create? You should definitely head on over to the Cutting Cafe Blog and comment on the post for today for a chance to win three free files! And be sure to let me know if you try this because I'd love to see what you make! And while you're there you will find links to the Design Team's projects to find even more Notepad Inspiration!
See you soon!
