Welcome to a new CAS-ual Fridays Friday Challenge! This time around it's an Inspiration Challenge! Create your project using the Inspiration Photo above and link it up for a chance to win! Here's how I was inspired:
My kids are well past Back to School...lol. My oldest will turn 29 this year!! So the obvious was not inspiring me much. So I took my inspiration from the colors in the photo. Also, doesn't your local coffee shop always Welcome you Back?
I started with some cardstock large enough to fit the largest Bubble Box Die when the paper is folded in half. I folded and creased it and then used the die to cut out my card base by letting one of the long ends of the die hang just slightly over the fold so that the blade on the die missed it. Voila! Instant shaped card base! Then I cut another of the largest die in the set to cut a black layer and then for the woodgrain I used the largest die along with the next smallest to create a frame from the woodgrain paper. You could easily just cut the layer of wood grain with the largest and then cut the black using the smaller and layer it on top, but I wanted mine to look like a frame, so I popped it up just a tiny bit with some very thin foam tape from CTMH.
Before I layered my pieces, I heat embossed the clock and sentiments onto my "chalkboard". I was going for the look of a decorative piece in said local coffee shop! Michele has SO many cool coffee sets including the ones I used here, Hot Coffee and Time For Coffee!
And oh my... the Garden Fri-Dies... those oh so pretty flowers and leaves. I used some subtle patterned papers to create my clusters of beautiful flowers.
Then I chose some fun patterns for the cups ... speaking of awesome coffee sets... the Coffee Cup Fri Dies... LOVE! There is a large cup and a small cup in this set as well as a wonderful word die with a beautiful font. One of my very favorite cup dies with those pretty heart shaped handles! Lastly I scattered some pretty Doodlebug Sprinkles around in blue. Since I didn't use much blue in the rest of my design, they helped to balance out the colors and make the blue cup make a bit more sense.
And while my card can't really stand on its own because of the bubble bottom, I think it would be cool to prop it up on a photo holder in your kitchen!
I'm linking this up to the Twisted Thursday Challenge over at the Outlawz which has a "Use School Supplies" twist... I think a chalkboard is probably a school supply! lol! I'll let them decide! If not it still qualifies as Anything Goes for sure!
That's it for me today! Hope you enjoyed your visit!
Hope I've inspired you! What are you playing for? 10 winning entries will be highlighted on the CAS-ual Fridays Blog the Thursday before a new challenge goes live! We call it the Happy Hour! In addition a $25 gift certificate goes to the overall winner. AND if the chosen winner uses CAS-ual Fridays stamps and/or dies as the main focus for the card, the gift certificate increases to $50!
So what are you waiting for! Nothing to lose and $25 to $50 of awesome stuff to gain! Hope to see you over there
