Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #186

Welcome to this week's Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge!  Michelle has given us another fantastic sketch and I decided as long as I was making one I might as well make two!  They are not the same, but they are similar... kind of...lol... and it probably took me only a little longer to make two than it would have to make one even with the differences.  I used the City Sidewalks from CTMH.... I'm loving this paper... so cute!!  I embossed the background of this one with the new snowflakes embossing folder from CTMH.

I used one of the PML cards for my focal point on both cards... I actually used one PML card and strategically cut it with some oval dies from C.C. Designs... the sentiment from the top of the card and the buildings below from the bottom.  That cute little tree is one of the stickers in the Complements pack...

The circle in the center of the bow is also a sticker from the set and I just put some liquid glass over it to make it look kind of badge buttony... and that ribbon... I got this on clearance after Christmas last year at The Container Store of all places!!  It's gorgeous and this is the first time I've used it.. it was the perfect color of green...  I did have glitter everywhere, but I'm good with that!

I'll take this moment to tell you that I'm also playing along with the Unstampables Challenge #63.  The challenge is to use some sort of Resistance Technique and at Unstampables you cannot use any stamped images.. so I didn't!   I made my background with a white piece of cardstock and I used a Tim Holtz Snowflake stencil and sponged some white pigment ink from C.C. designs through the stencil and then used some clear embossing powder to emboss the snowflakes on.  Then when it cooled, I used various CTMH inks and blended them together.  The snowflakes resisted the blue inks because of the embossing.  You should give this a try because it's pretty fun!  I was introduced to this challenge by my friend Kitty... she's a guest designer for this challenge and you can check out her creations here!  And you definitely should!

Here's the second half of my PML card... I just love these little old timey city scenes in this paper pack!  So yeah... some of my snowflakes aren't perfect ... the whole pigment ink through the stencil was a little messy... but I don't mind that either!

And I cut my sentiment from one of the zip strips from the City Sidewalks paper pack.  The snowflake is from a Tim Holtz die and that pretty ribbon... I found a booth at a local antique store/consignment shop where the woman sells a few different crafty items... one of them is this pretty ribbon and I will definitely get some more when I go back there...

So thanks for stopping by and be sure to play along with Atlantic Hearts this week!  I can't wait to see what you create!  And don't be afraid to mash it up with the Unstampables Challenge!  They are the perfect pair!

  1. Wow, Lisa, I LOVE these cards! Love the ribbon, love how you made the sticker into a badge, love the papers, love everything I'm seeing here! Is Liquid Glass the same as Glossy Accents? I definitely need to try this! And very happy to see you at UnstampaBelles! Thank you for the shout-out! It doesn't look like you had any trouble with "no stamping" - I always find it challenging! Awesome job with the resistance technique - gorgeous background!

  5. Amazing cards, and the one for Unstampabelles is so pretty - stunning in fact. Yes, working without stamps can be pretty challenging but it can be so much fun and it really makes you think outside the proverbial square. We would love to see you back again soon. Thanks for playing along with us at Unstampabelles
