Showering You With Love and Smooches!

So happy to see you today!  There is a new challenge over at the Paper Smooches Blog, Showers!  When I started this background, it wasn't necessarily my plan to use it for this challenge.  One of the wonderful ladies I crop with once a month showed us this cool technique.  First we used a scoring board to create this diamond shaped embossed pattern on a piece of white cardstock.  Then I chose three colors of ink (I had a little help) and swiped them across the embossed paper... where the paper was depressed a bit, the color slid right over those scores leaving them white.  I used a couple neutral tannish colors and a green.  Then when I was done with that, I splattered a little bit of green watercolor on.

The next step to this technique is to stamp a background stamp over the entire piece... which is pretty cool looking, but I decided to use the pretty Paper Smooches Blossoming Buds stamp set on just the corners.  I then took out my watercolor brush again to splatter a bit more green on and I started coloring in the leaves on that beautiful floral spray instead and I was loving the way it looked so I kept going.  I didn't have my watercolor pallet with me but I did have my Ken Oliver colorbursts... I shook a tiny bit of powder onto an acrylic block, spritzed on some water and went to work with my paintbrush coloring in the flowers and leaves.  I love the way some of the background shows through yet it's so colorful.

Also, below see the two toned flower with the "pink" and "darker pink"?  That's the same color, but with varying amounts of water...

This green paper from the CTMH Some Kinda Wonderful paper packet was the perfect color to cut some of those pretty Loopy Leaf diecuts out of ... I've been wanting to use those for a while and they were perfect for this...

Not to mention this Love Word Die... I just love the fun word dies from Paper Smooches... and my Showering You With Love sentiment from Paper Sweeties (with the Love masked out) was perfect for my shower themed card... and so was that umbrella die from CDD...

And those Lacy Scallop Circles from Reverse Confetti and the double stitched circle from MFT... used a lot of stuff from a lot of my favorite companies here I guess...

And those tiny hearts ... I got those free during the Paper Smooches Birthday Celebration!  Love those sweet hearts and there is also a tiny arrow in the set that I didn't use here... but it's tiny and sweet!

I scattered around some paper flowers from my stash and those pretty clear droplets from Pretty Pink Posh... love those!  Especially here for my love shower...

So what are you waiting for!  Play along with Paper Smooches this month!  How does this photo inspire you?
