Crafty Elves Countdown to Christmas - August 2021 Edition!

Welcome!  It's time for the Crafty Elves to share the Christmas Cards we've made this month!  And we have a new elf joining us this time around.  Misty Lavigne is joining us and be sure to head on over to her YouTube channel while you're hopping!  While you're at it don't forget to stop and see Debra and Michael!  Lots of fun and inspiration!  But before you go, stay a while and see what I've for you today:

I had printed this adorable digi from Angie Blom last month and didn't have time to do anything with it then so I colored it up for August.  I added it to an alcohol inked background that I added a snowflake border to using a stamp from Rubbernecker and some alcohol lift ink.  It's a nice flat card great for mailing and I just love that image with the adorable pup driving.  The set is called Joyful Christmas Ride.

These are the Copic Markers I used for that one.

The rest of my cards are using images from an adorable Colorado Craft Company set called Christmas Presents! It's just one of the many adorable Anita Jeram sets over there and I love it!

I love this image from the set with that pup on top of the presents!  I used the birdhouse from AJVD as a dog house and some of the Gingerbread accessories to dress it up!

And for this one I made another alcohol inked panel:

I tried a little alcohol lift on this one too, but it didn't quite workout.  I think I waited too long to buff them... so I decided instead to use the snowflake stencil from CAS-ual Fridays to add some snowflakes with Gina K Glitz Glitter Gel.  I added vellum to the back of the window, and put a few snowflakes behind it and popped the whole thing up.  And then that little patient pup waiting to open his presents... 

When I made the background above and was using the Alcohol ift Ink, I stamped off the snowflakes onto another piece of cardstock for a light snowflake background.  (As you're lifting the ink, there is some ink on the stamp that can then be stamped off onto another panel):

This one is about as clean and simple as I ever get... I added some snowdrops with the glitter gel and then popped up a photo frame over it and added the bunny from the C3 set!

Rubbernecker Stamps - Just Chillin'

Hello!  I'm excited to share this one with you today!  I am in love with all of these adorable images and I had a play with some alcohol inks and Alcohol Lift Ink!

I've used bunches of stamp sets along with this beautiful background stamp!

I'm playing along over at Double Trouble's Magical challenge!  Gnomes are pretty magical and I've used lots of dies on this one, so I've also played along with the Twist!  Today is the last day to play along, but if you miss out, be sure to check out the new challenge that starts on Monday!

I just love looking at this one with all it's cuteness!  And love how these pretty flowers are so subtle in the background with the green and blue.. giving the feeling of earth and sky.

Everyday Dragonflies and An Alcohol Lift

Crafty Elves Countdown to Christmas- February 2021 Edition!

Happy February Holidays!  We're back again with some more Christmas Card inspiration!  Debra and Michael and I are sharing the Christmas cards we've made this month.  Without any further ado

I had lots of fun with these cuties!  I chose a couple stamp sets that I bought over at Topflight Stamps... one a Christmas doggy set and the little dog isn't from that set, but a similar one and it worked just as well!

Here's a closer look:

OMG... what's even better than a pup stamp??  A pup stamp with an owl.  For this background, I die cut some snowflakes from Paper Smooches from cardstock adhered to double sided adhesive sheets from Elizabeth Crafts.  I peeled off the backing and placed the snowflakes onto some white cardstock sized a bit larger than my frame in a random pattern and then blended some Distress Oxides in blues over them.

I did a slight ink lift using a paintbrush and water and a paper towel so the snowflakes would show up better.  Basically you add water to the area you want to lift the ink from and while it's wet soak up the extra along with a bit of ink using a paper towel.  Then I layered all of my background pieces and popped that cool Deckled frame from Rubbernecker over it.  I popped up my image and that cute sentiment (that one is from a Christmas pup set from MFT that is retired.)  A few sequins and done!

For this one I used a cool background stamp designed by Brutus Monroe and available in the Unity Stamp Shop.  I heat embossed it in white over blue cardstock.

Easy peasy!  Then I added another one of those cute sentiments from the old MFT set (because I thought it was perfect since this cutie pie is decked out in ornaments!

I used another Brutus Monroe background stamp with this one-also available over at Unity Stamps.  There are a couple sentiments on the Paper Artsy sets and decided there was the perfect space for this one... I love that wonky font with these dogs... they're perfect!  That frame is from Paper Smooches and not available but I had to use it because it's one of my faves!

I used two of my favorite Copic color combos one all of these... the pink is R81, R83, and R85 and the blues are BG000, BG10, BG13.

I played with some alcohol inks for this one!  I've been playing alot with EVO Synthetic paper and it's perfect for all of my alcohol ink projects.  For this one.. similar to my first... I cut the snowflakes from EVO paper backed with double sided adhesive and adhered them to a panel of EVO paper.  Then I used a combo of Ranger Alcohol Inks and Copic refills along with blending solution.  Then I took a cue from a post over on IG at ETCPaper's account and added a little glitter while it was wet.

After the ink dried a bit, I used a paintbrush filled with alcohol and used it to push the ink on the snowflakes and some of the glitter away a bit... again, so that the snowflakes would stand out more and not get lost in all of the ink and glitter.  Another technique I'll be playing some more with!

This little cutie was the one that was from the other Paper Arty set that isn't Christmas themed, but I thought she deserved to be on a Christmas card... especially with her present she got!  I used another sentiment from the MFT set because I thought it was perfect for this little girl.  That frame is from Whimsy and I love it too!

Spring/Summer 2019 Coffee Lover's Blog Hop - Day 2

It's Day 2 of the Coffee Lover's Blog Hop!  Today I'm using a great new stamp set from Super Sponsor The Rabbit Hole Designs called Caffeinated: Rabbit!

So yeah... it's a little busy that background!  I created it using some "springy" colors of alcohol inks and then used the Alcohol Lift pad and an old CTMH clock stamp to life off the image of the clock.  It's a sort of Foggy Head Morning, psychadelic climbing out of the rabbit hole background!

I think it looks pretty cool!

I stamped, cut and colored the rabbit from TRHD set and created a very subtle scene around him using some CDD dies from this set and this set... purposely leaving the background exposed as much as possible.  His real world is trying to break on through... but not quite yet!

This sentiment from TRHD Caffeinated Rabbit set is what inspired this design (that time change get my like that... well, it used to when I had a time change...lololol!).... I stamped it on a die from Kat Scrappiness Stitched Flag set... love this set!  And did you know Kat Scrappiness is going to be carrying The Rabbit Hole Designs products in their store??  Yup they are!

Ink Road and Some Alcohol Lift!

Quick one this morning!!  A couple weeks ago, my friend, the awesomely talented Jean Chaney came to our monthly crafty playtime with an arsenal of Alcohol Ink goodness!  I played quite a bit and this is one of the backgrounds I created that day.  (I have another special make from that day that I'll be sharing soon.. soon!).  When I opened up my recent order from Kat Scrappiness which contained my Alcohol Lift stamp pad (and re-inker of course), I pulled out my Ink Road Bella Flora stamps and dies and then flipped through the backgrounds I made that day, because I knew it would be the perfect pairing!  I chose this purple one because I thought it would look lovely with some florals.

I love the Bella Flora die set!!  It's a huge set that includes outline dies as well as stand alone dies that coordinate with the stamp set!  It's awesome!  It's like getting two or three sets all together!  I decided on this sentiment in gold.  And I set it against the yummy alcohol ink background and even in gold it got a little lost.  So I decided a purple vellum banner was in order and I also picked up on the blue in the background and cut the sentiment from a deep blue cardstock and offset them just a bit from each other.

So the Alcohol Lift works just as it sounds!  You ink up your stamp with the clear solution on the pad and stamp it firmly onto your alcohol inked background.  Lift it and you can barely see the image.  Then you take a soft cloth and blot the area first (very important!) and then buff the area after it's blotted and your image starts to appear.  Don't worry... there are instructions right on the pad!  And be sure to clean off your stamps right away!  The bold lines on the Bella Flora stamps are perfect for this!   I stamped a couple different images in each corner this way.  Love the beautiful, ghostly images that are left!

One more peek!  I'm so excited!!  LOVE all of these things I've used to create a really quick, simple, but I think lovely card!
