Petals for the Pittmans Fundraiser and Linky Party-Card 2

I've created another card today for the Petals for the Pittmans Linky Party!  You can check out the introductory post here.

Today's card is created with another one of the images available in a special and beautiful floral digital stamp set available in the shop over at Polka Dot Orchard.  There are actually two huge sets that are a collaboration of images by several different artists and companies and are part of a fundraiser for one of our fellow makers, Larissa Collins Pittman and her family, who are going through a very difficult time and have mounting medical bills.

You can read more about Larissa and her husband Gary here: Pittmans Go Fund Me.

Today I'm using an image donated by Trinity Stamps and a sentiment from Polka Dot Orchard.  Here's how I was inspired:

You may or may not have heard... I'm all about the rainbows again...lol!  You'll be seeing a few of them here over the next few weeks.  I started with some digital paper from Graciellie Designs that you can find here.

Then I printed my sentiment and image.  I made sure to leave enough space around the sentiment to die cut it with a stitched rectangle die from Rubbernecker Stamps, layered it onto the rainbow paper and then I ran them both through with this die from Lil Inker to add the rays.

Then I colored in my floral image by Trinity Stamps using Copics in a rainbow of colors, cut it out and popped it up under the sentiment.

You can play along with the linky party too!  Just create a new floral card and link it up at the Polka Dot Orchard Blog here and spread the word!  There are lots of prizes!  And if you want to help, head on over to the Polka Dot Orchard shop to get one or both of these beautiful digital stamp sets!  All proceeds from the sale of these images will go directly to the Pittmans to help with their medical bills.  Take a look at these awesome sets:

So we hope you'll join us and play along!  And come back soon... the party doesn't end until July 27th!

Petals for the Pittmans Fundraiser and Linky Party

I'm honored to be sharing a very special card with you today!  It's created with one of the images available in a special and beautiful floral digital stamp set available in the shop over at Polka Dot Orchard.

I was lucky to be able to work with a beautiful image designed by Shery Russ from Stamplorations and here's how I was inspired:

I printed the image on watercolor paper.  I knew I wanted to cut the image out and pop it up so I die cut another piece of watercolor paper using a beautiful stitched panel from Stamplorations and used my Paul Rubens Glitter Watercolors to color and splatter the background.

I used a combination of the Glitter watercolors and my watercolor pencils to color the image.

I let the colors dry and then would add more color for more dramatic light and dark variations.  When I was happy with how it looked, I die cut the image with the same stitched die and then fussy cut around the tops of the flowers and cup and popped it up on the background panel.  I cut my favorite word die from gold foiled paper once and two more times from white cardstock to stack them for dimension and added it to the card.  A simple sentiment for a simple reminder to Just Breathe, because sometimes that's all you can do.

I added a few sequins in gold and clear and called it done.  I love all of the shimmer that those glitter watercolors give to it.

You can purchase the collaboration digital sets for the Pittman fundraiser at the Polka Dot Etsy shop here!  All proceeds will go directly to the Pittmans to help with the overwhelming cost of their medical treatments.  And bonus for you... they are awesome sets with images from SO many wonderful companies and talented artists.

Here is Set One

And take a look at Set Two

Thank you so much for stopping today and be sure to check out all of the makes by our talented DT!  The linky party is here on the Polka Dot Orchard Blog so you can play along too.  And bonus #2... there are prizes!!

CDD Shake It Up Linky Party-Week 2

Welcome to this week's Crafting Desert Divas Linky Party! The theme for this Linky Party at Craftin Desert Divas is “Shake It Up”!  Please play along and create something that fits this week's theme and link up at the Craftin' Desert Diva’s Blog.

Every other Monday is the beginning of a new semi-weekly Linky Party over at the CDD blog. We hope you will share your projects with us! And there are prizes! Every Linky Party will have a winner and a Top 3!  The more times you link up…the more chances you have to win!

Here is my project for this week's party (links to the CDD products I've used are at the bottom of the post):

This week, I used a whole bunch of Craftin' Desert Divas products to create this three layer shaker card.  I started with my new Picture Frame die which I LOVE.  I actually used the biggest frame cut for the top layer and then made the center into another frame using the Fancy Frames die set and used it as my middle layer.  The waves and sand were cut from some watercolored papers I'd made previously.  I like making them in various colors to choose from because I have no patience for drying time...lol!

Now, only the first bottom layer is an actual moving shaker.  I intended for the second layer also to be shakable, however, I realized after I started that my design was not going to allow it so rather than start over... which I almost never do... I affixed the blue sequins in a random pattern to feel like they move.

I used the Outdoor Landscape dies for the waves and sand.  My base is cardstock sponged with oranges and yellows.  I cut the sun using the Sky's The Limit die set and adhered it to the base, then two layers of waves.  I added my Citrus Bliss sequins and then covered it with my smaller frame and clear cardstock.  Then a layer of waves, and I adhered some Moonlit Kisses sequins and my second frame with clear cardstock.  Then on top another layer of waves and then the sand and of course... some more sequins.

I intended to use this little Coffee Cup Mouse during the Coffee Lover's Blog Hop, but I had more ideas than I had time... so here she is floating on over to see her friends... she brought the cup.. hopefully they've got a pot brewing!  I drew on some lines to make a striped cup and I stamped and colored some flowers from the new Flowers in Bloom Clear Stamp Set and the little clam from Magical Wishes.

Friends waiting patiently.... I used the adorable Chamelon mini stamp set (his face is matching the sunrise) and this awesome new Flamingo Digi Stamp (comes WITH the palm tree) available in the CDD shop!

So please hop around to check out all of the Design Team's awesome projects and then join in on the party!

Thanks for stopping and please do come again soon...  I'll have the coffee brewing!

CDD Linky Party Black and White with a Splash of Color-Week 2!

Welcome to this week's Crafting Desert Divas Linky Party! The theme for this Linky Party at Craftin Desert Divas is “Black and White with a Splash of Color”!  Please play along and create something that fits this week's theme and link up at the Craftin' Desert Diva’s Blog.

Here is my project for this week's party (links to the CDD products I've used are at the bottom of the post):

I just love the look of blacks and greys as a backdrop for some shot of beautiful bright color!  I knew I wanted to use this Rainy Day Girl digital stamp with some kind of dark rainy day background and my first thought was my watercolors but I just couldn't get a good background that didn't look plain old muddy!

And one night in my thinking place (aka my bed in the middle of the night) it came to me!  I could use some great patterned paper and my awesome CDD dies to create the effect of a "gloomy" background.

I printed the digital stamp out on white paper and then again on two different design papers.  I cut out the white image and colored in every other panel of the umbrella and the little girl's leggings.  Then I cut out the pieces I wanted to use from the design paper.  And really, I printed two on white in the beginning thinking I was going to do something else so now I have enough leftovers to create another one, alike yet different!  I used my cricut to cut out some raindrops and a puddle.

I found this old sentiment in my stash and added a few flowers and some very awesome Doodlebug Sprinkles, a little baker's twine and done!  I love the way it turned out!

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to check out all of the other Design Team creations and take some time to play along!  You could win some really great stuff!
