CAS-ual Fridays 7 Years Release - Ever After

Welcome to Day 3 of CAS-ual Fridays 7th Anniversary Release!  Today we've got an awesome sentiment sent to share with you called Ever After.

I created my background using some Deco Foil Transfer Gel along with Gold Shattered Glass Deco Foil and the Starlequin Stencil.

I used this Happily Ever After sentiment to create a card that could be for a wedding or an anniversary.  I love the gold and white pallet.  For behind my sentiment strip, I cut the second largest Bubble Box die from glitter paper, trimmed off the ends to make it shorter and then popped the sentiment up over it.

I tucked some Casual Trees cut from white vellum underneath the sentiment strip and added a few flowers from the Garden Fri-Dies in Gold.

Yummy gold.

CAS-ual Fridays and the Coffee Lover's Blog Hop-Day 5

Good morning! Here's how I was inspired:

Remember last time I made two backgrounds using the Starlequin Stencil and only used one?  Well, this time around I decided it was time to get the other one on a card!  I've used it today since it has such a bright and springy feeling.

I have a lot of Coffee Cup dies in my crafty collection, but this Coffee Cup Fri-Die is by far one of my very favorites!  I just love the size of it and that so sweet heart shaped handle!!  I also love that the coffee cuts out separately so I can color it easily in a coffee (or tea or cocoa) color.

I stamped that awesome sentiment from the Cup of Coffee stamp set onto the cup in Versamark and heat embossed it in green.  Then I die cut the leaves from the Garden Fri-Dies from some previously watercolored paper and added them and some pre-made paper flowers around the cup.

I added the breathe die from the Just Breathe Fri-Dies in similar colors so that you'd see it, but it wouldn't be the focus... just a very quiet reminder to a friend that's going through a rough patch to take a few moments and just be... it's not quite an eclipse, but we'll touch on those the next time!

And there you have it!  A few sequins as steam and it's ready to pop in the mail.  When's the last time you actually mailed a card you made?  I'm a slow mailer and it's a struggle to get to a post office, but I love to send out my cards and will head there this week!  I'm challenging you to get a few out in the mail this week too!  And I'm challenging you to create something Coffee, Tea or Cocoa and link it up over at the Coffee Hop!

Positively Beautiful Negative Spaces With Stencils!

I'm up on the CAS-ual Fridays Blog today and sharing with you a technique I used during the new release with Ken Oliver Color Bursts and some of the new stencils available in the shop!

My favorite stencil at the present time seems to be the Starlequin stencil... especially with this technique... I think it's all of the detail but it still has wide open spaces to give the colors lots of room to blend.  This is the watercolor paper I used.  I can't say if it's my favorite, but it worked well, and I got it on sale!  I cut my watercolor panels ahead of time and had two ready to go!  Have a little spray bottle of water ready too.

You'll want to protect your surface because this is messy... or maybe you don't... lol!  I'm not the boss of you!  I layed my stencil over one of the panels and sprinkled some Chartreuse and Lime Color Burst powders over the top in a random pattern.  It seems some of my bottles come out heavy and some not so much, but it's better to start out light and you can always add more!

I prayed on some water... you may want to tape down your stencil, but I didn't.  I don't mind if a little sneaks underneath... To me it adds to the beauty!  I sprayed a good amount of water on mine... a little at a time and just watch the beautiful colors do what they do.. mixing and swirling.  When you think it's enough, just lift off the stencil..

You'll want to be careful that all of that extra color doesn't slip off the top!  Move your first panel aside and put the fresh one in place.  It's ok if it takes you a longer than you plan... the oven dings... you have to chase after the dogs or the kids... because you can always spritz it with more water before you flip it over and smoosh it on top of your fresh panel!

I make sure to press down on mine..yeah.. my hands are a mess when I'm done...but I don't care!

And when you lift that one up, you have two beautiful panels to work with!  The hardest part is deciding which one to use!  I closed my eyes and picked because I love them both!

I cut the Bubble Box die out of some water color paper and used a bit of the Chartreuse powder to watercolor it.  I'm impatient so I used a heat gun to dry this piece so I could stamp it with that inspirational sentiment from the Dream Then Do stamp set (LOVE that set!)  I popped it up and splattered a bit of shimmery watercolor over the top.

I cut some leaves using the Garden Fri-Dies from green cardstock and cut some flowers from some yellow Sparkling Sheets using the 4 Petals Fri-Dies.

Isn't that background yummy??  Well, I love it anyway.

CAS-ual Fridays Stamps New Release - Trellis Cover Fri-Die!

Welcome to Day 4 of Inspiration for the CAS-ual Fridays New Release!  Today we're sharing with you some makes using the new Trellis Cover Fri-Die!  And you don't have to wait to pick up any of the new items you want... they're available in the shop here right now!  Here's how I was inspired for today:

This cover die is SO beautiful!  I used it on my first card in white on white for a beautiful decorative background that still looks clean... 

Isn't it pretty??  I used my favorite glue... a little Art Glitter dry clear glue with the most awesome metal tip for fine applications... it really is the best glue I've found for adhering delicate die cuts like this to my cards.

I used the Bubble Box in kraft for a backdrop for my sentiment... another die from the Sweet Friend Fri-Die set that we showed off yesterday and the Happy Birthday Sentiment from the Bushy Tailed stamp set.

I added a few of the flowers and leaves cut from the Garden Fri-Dies.

For this one, I used a very thick piece of kraft cardstock and only ran the die through once hoping it wouldn't cut all of the way through so I could have an embossed look and it worked!  I love how this looks as an embossed background too!

I made sure to add adhesive to the entire back so that none of the pieces would come loose and attached it to a kraft base... again, going for that clean look.  This time I used the Scallop Tag Fri-Die for the sentiment backdrop.

I layered the heart from the Heart Board Fri-Dies over the tag and then added my Hope sentiment over the top.  I used the 4 Petals Fri-Dies for my flowers and some more leaves from the Garden Fri-Dies!

I'm playing along over at Die Cuttin' Divas Favorite Color Combination Challenge!  Pink, Gold, Green... this makes my eyes happy for sure!

CAS-ual Fridays Stamps New Release - Sweet Friend Word Dies!

Welcome to Day 3 of Inspiration for the new CAS-ual Fridays Release!  Yesterday we showed off the 5 new stencils available in the shop and today it's all about the Sweet Friend Word Dies!  We're sharing inspiration all week but all of the new stuff is available here right now!

Here's how I was inspired:

These new word dies come in a set of 3... Sweet, Friend, and Hello and they are awesome!  Similar to the Big Hope die from the last release, the size is perfect!  And you can use them separately or together!

For today's card I grabbed another one of the new stencils and some Ken Oliver Color Bursts to create two backgrounds!  I started by cutting my base from watercolor paper.  I laid the Starlequin stencil over it and sprinkled on a few different Color Burst powders.  Then I used a spray bottle to add water... lots of water until the color moved around, but not so much that it would go too far underneath the stencil.

Once I was happy with the coverage, I let it sit for just a minute and then lifted it off.

I just love how these colors melded together!  And then I looked at my stencil and realized there was still a lot of beautiful color on it and I happened to have another panel handy.  So I flipped that stencil over onto the second panel and voila!

I got a REALLY cool negative print of the stencil!   I also splattered a little bit of Prima Metallic Watercolors in pink and white over the top.. 'cause I could!

While those two panels dried, I used the same colors of Colorburst and another couple pieces of watercolor paper along with a paintbrush so that I could coordinate the flowers and leaves that I cut using the 4 Petals and Garden Fri-Dies.

I cut two of the smallest Bubble Box dies from vellum and the Sweet and Hello dies out of  white glitter paper, once each, and then three more times each out of white cardstock.  I love to stack my word dies for dimension and these dies are so easy to do that with!  I layered everything on and then added some white gems to the center of the flowers.

I cannot wait to do this again... I just love these backgrounds!

To finish off my sentiments I added a couple mini sentiments from the Bushy Tail set... love the size of them and they fit perfectly with the new Sweet Friend word dies!

And there you have it!  Two yummy backgrounds from one Colorburst application.  I have to admit I love looking at these...lol!
