Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #96

What a versatile sketch we have over at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge Blog this week!  I tend to be a little bit more liberal with my interpretation of each sketch.  For me it's a starting point and my ending point can be quite different...lol.  So.. my flower is a tree and my border has a few more layers and for my background I used some printed Paper Fundamentals.   I used the woodgrain embossing folder from CTMH for the brown strips along the side.  I wanted the woodgrain to be a little less deep so I placed a piece of cardstock on either side of the brown to cushion it a bit from the folder.  What I ended up with was slightly less than what I wanted, but it's something I'll try again maybe with some thinner cardstock as cushions.

I love to see the different ways some people interpret a sketch.  Some will turn it on it's side; some will change the shape; some will make a scrapbook page or other project.  I love them all including those that are sticklers to remain truer to the sketch.  Hop on over to Atlantic Hearts and check out all of the different takes on one sketch from this and past challenges.  It really is fun!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #95

Here is this week's sketch for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  Some of you may be done with Valentines, but I had to make one more for two of my favorite people.  They are my biggest fans and supporters and I love them both.. my parents.  Thanks to my Mom who has recently renewed her love for papercrafting and we've spent many hours together with inky fingers and messy houses...lol!  And thanks to my Dad who always has time to come and let my furry babies out and spend a little fun time with them during their long days at home alone while Pat and I work.

I used Heartstrings... I have just grown to so love this paper.  The Koala is from the Cute Koalas set which is not in the book, but you can order it if you love it from my website (click on the link to the right).  I cut the card from Artfully Sent, the bow from Artbooking, the hearts on the inside are from Art Philosophy and I printed the saying on the computer.  This one was a lot of fun and I know Mom is going to appreciate it because she loves those Koalas and the ones she's made she's given away so now she has one she can keep.

A final Happy Valentines Day to you all and I'm moving on now....lol!  Check out the great submissions for this week's challenge and play along.  Get extra chances in my monthly drawing for participating!  I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Wishing You Peace

Sympathy cards can be the hardest to make.  Many times I just buy them because it's hard to know where to start and when to finish.  This was made using the Artfully Sent cartridge and really the designs are so pretty you really don't need to do much to them.

Wishing you all Peace in your hearts and mind.....

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #94

This is my first submission to the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge as a Design Team Member.  I've enjoyed participating in the challenges each week and I love to see everyone else's takes on the sketches.  There were some openings on the Design Team so I volunteered.  I'm looking forward to it and hope the power doesn't go to my head! (LOL!!).  The sketch that inspired me is below.

Please join us over at Atlantic Hearts and play along!  If not, then at least stop to check out all of the fantastic creations both from the Design Team and participants in the challenge-it's a great one stop shop for great ideas.

As you know I've been playing much with this month's Stamp of the Month, A Happy Hello and heat embossing with my heat gun.  Can't say it enough-I love this stamp set.  The colors I've used here are Flaxen, Lagoon, Sorbet, and I took out some of my old Breeze (boy I wish this color would come back-the Year Noted Papers brought up some old feelings of love for this light turquoise beauty)!  I cut the flourish from one of the CTMH cartridges and glitter paper.  More Happy Hello fun to come... stay tuned!  And thanks for stopping by.

Viva Las Vegas!!

So, boys weekend trip to Las Vegas means I get to scrap ALL weekend... well, except when I'm working or running errands...lol.  This card is made using Artiste for the swing card (yes, Artfully Sent is not the only CTMH cartridge with cool cards on it!) and the February Stamp of the Month "A Happy Hello".  I have been playing with this set a lot this weekend and you'll be seeing a few creations over the next couple weeks.  I've also had my heat gun out and embossing which I have not done in years... literally!  This one was all gold embossing powder.  The papers are mostly from an old special paper pack, Free To Be Me.  Below is a pic of the "inside" of the card.

I also used some of the gold sticker paper from last month's special A Year Noted.  I cut the scalloped frame out of the largest of the circles on the sheet and I used the banner from it as well on the front.  some sparkle gems made out of shimmer trim and a couple puffy butterflies.

Starting next week I'll be on the Design Team at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge Blog.  Check it out at http://atlanticheartschallenge.blogspot.com/ and play along.  There is a new sketch each week and your creations are due to be linked by Sunday.  The top three are announced each Wednesday morning.  The prize is a blog badge and bragging rights!  Do you really need anything more than that?  You still have time to participate in this week's challenge so get busy!  There is a great sketch (as always) to get you motivated.  Check back Monday to see my take on the challenge for the coming week.  I'll give you a hint... MORE Happy Hello!  I just love the versatility of this one!  Thanks for stopping!

Three Amigos Blog Hop-February

Welcome back to the Three Amigos Mini Blog Hop.  We are three CTMH consultants and good friends and we challenge each other each month to create something using the great products from Close to My Heart.  This month our challenge was to mix papers from different paper packs.  On my card, I used three different printed papers-Chalk It Up, Hopscotch and last month's special paper packet, A Year Noted.  This was fun and although there are many coordinating colors in the CTMH paper packs, all three of these packs have some of my favorite exclusive colors (or close to them in the case of A Year Noted-the special colors are just a touch lighter).  I also had some fun with the February Stamp of the Month A Happy Hello.  This stamp set IS fun to use, because it's so versatile and you can mix and match colors and if you don't want to cut the shapes out, just do what I did and cut a bunch of varying sized circles on your Cricut and stamp away.  They look good with any paper-just stamp with a coordinating color.  Instead of spending a lot of time cutting out the stem that came with the stamp set, I cut a stem with leaves from my Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge.

Thanks for stopping by for the hop and now head on over to Donna's or Susan's blog and see what they have in store for you!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #92

This is my entry for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge for this week.  I used last month's special paper pack, A Year Noted.  I actually got out my trust old heat gun and did some heat embossing in gold for the sentiment on the outside and the inside of the card.  The card is from Artfully Sent and the flowers are from one of the CTMH Cricut cartridges.  The butterfly was cut from glitter paper from Artiste.  Until recently I have shy'd away from gold, but I am really starting to like using it.  I used the stickers that came with the paper pack as leaves (I cut the hearts in half).  I edged the flowers with gold Wink of Stella.  My little bubbles are my new favorite embellishment-a circle punched out of glitter tape with a bubble of liquid glass over it.  It takes a while to dry, but I just love it!

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check out all of the other great entries at Atlantic Hearts!  While you're there, take the challenge!

Don't forget to stop back on the third of the month for the Three Amigos Mini Blog Hop!  It's a very short hop and won't take long!
