One Hot Mama! - CAS-ual Fridays Release

Hello!  Excited because there is a fun new release over at CAS-ual Fridays Stamps and today we're sharing makes using the new Hot Mama Stamp Set!

Isn't this a fun new set?  And don't you love this font!  It's so funky and retro!  And this was easy enough to stamp and cut out by hand and I love the look.  I stamped it with the Misti so that I could be sure to get a nice sharp black image.

I created the background with the Starlequin Stencil and some Ken Oliver Color Bursts.  And don't you just love that fun sentiment?  I know exactly who this is for!

This stamp set has so many fun sentiments!

On Your Wedding Day - CAS-ual Fridays Stamps

Happy New Year!  Today I'm up on the CAS-ual Fridays Blog and I'm sharing a card for a wedding and I've used lots of embossing powder on the background, sentiment and on the embellishments.  I used some gold mirror cardstock and was wondering how it would take the heat if I were to heat emboss it. 

I started by creating my background using the Starlequin stencil and applied some gold embossing paste through it.  Then while it was wet I sprinkled on some Vintage Peacock embossing powder and heated it up.:

Next I die cut one of the CASual Trees Fri-dies from gold mirror cardstock, smooshed the ends onto my embossing ink pad and then smooshed them into the powder.  I didn't worry about full coverage because I like things imperfect and wanted the gold to show through.

As you can see, the mirror cardstock took the heat ok, however, some of the embossing powder seemed to slide around a bit as I heated it.  After it cooled, I applied more embossing ink and more powder and heated it again... this time keeping the heat pointed straight down at it instead of coming from the side as I tend to do and that seemed to help more stay put.....

And this is what I ended up with... I LOVE it!   I used the same powder as in the background, Vintage Peacock, and I mixed in some plain gold die cuts for contrast in my "bouquet". I love imperfect things in my project, but if you don't, then you may want to use plain cardstock for this technique for more even coverage of the embossing powder and you can just keep adding more until you get the look that you like!

  

I love to cut apart the branches of this CASual Trees die cut so I can make a full "bouquet" and love how it coordinates perfectly with the background.  The heart from the Heart Board Fri-Dies is perfect as a vase.

I embossed the sentiment from the Ever After set in white onto some teal cardstock and added a matte of the gold behind it, tucking a few more of the branches from the CASual Trees die cuts in the corner.

This Sucks - But Coffee! With CAS-ual Fridays

Welcome back!  Today I'm sharing some CAS-ual Fridays new release inspiration with you!  I love the sassy sentiments that are available in the CAS-ual Fridays Shop including the new This Sucks stamp set!  I love using bold colors with it too because that's how I feel when I'm being sassy.

I stuck with a color pallet of black, white and red.  I used the Bold Trellis Stencil, some Deco Foil Transfer Gel and Black Foil for this background.

Don't you just love the fun sentiments in this set??

And then there's Cup Refills.  Coffee is my Sassy Fuel!  This sentiment is quite true...lol!

I layered the Coffee Cup Fri-Die and Bubble Box in a wonky pattern.  On this one I used the Starlequin stencil .. you know... the one I like to call my favorite!

CAS-ual Fridays 7 Years Release - This Sucks!

Welcome to Day 5 of the CAS-ual Fridays 7th Anniversary Release!  Today we're sharing with you projects using the awesome new sentiment stamp set, This Sucks.

I LOVE this set!  Such fun sentiments!  I started this one with a background I created using the Starlequin Stencil and Ken Oliver Colorbursts.  This was the 2nd background I made in one application of the beautiful Colorbursts.  For the first I applied the colors through the stencil and then I took the stencil with the ink on it and smooshed it onto some watercolor paper... that is this one... you'll see the first tomorrow!

Love this fantastic bold sentiment!  I stamped it with my Misti so I could stamp it over a couple times and make sure it was solid.  Then I cut it out and popped it up over the background.

Things could always be worse!  Just one of the many sentiments I love on this set.

CAS-ual Fridays 7 Years Release - Ever After

Welcome to Day 3 of CAS-ual Fridays 7th Anniversary Release!  Today we've got an awesome sentiment sent to share with you called Ever After.

I created my background using some Deco Foil Transfer Gel along with Gold Shattered Glass Deco Foil and the Starlequin Stencil.

I used this Happily Ever After sentiment to create a card that could be for a wedding or an anniversary.  I love the gold and white pallet.  For behind my sentiment strip, I cut the second largest Bubble Box die from glitter paper, trimmed off the ends to make it shorter and then popped the sentiment up over it.

I tucked some Casual Trees cut from white vellum underneath the sentiment strip and added a few flowers from the Garden Fri-Dies in Gold.

Yummy gold.

CAS-ual Fridays and the Coffee Lover's Blog Hop-Day 5

Here's how I was inspired:

Remember last time I made two backgrounds using the Starlequin Stencil and only used one?  Well, this time around I decided it was time to get the other one on a card!  I've used it today since it has such a bright and springy feeling.

I have a lot of Coffee Cup dies in my crafty collection, but this Coffee Cup Fri-Die is by far one of my very favorites!  I just love the size of it and that so sweet heart shaped handle!!  I also love that the coffee cuts out separately so I can color it easily in a coffee (or tea or cocoa) color.

I stamped that awesome sentiment from the Cup of Coffee stamp set onto the cup in Versamark and heat embossed it in green.  Then I die cut the leaves from the Garden Fri-Dies from some previously watercolored paper and added them and some pre-made paper flowers around the cup.

I added the breathe die from the Just Breathe Fri-Dies in similar colors so that you'd see it, but it wouldn't be the focus... just a very quiet reminder to a friend that's going through a rough patch to take a few moments and just be... it's not quite an eclipse, but we'll touch on those the next time!

And there you have it!  A few sequins as steam and it's ready to pop in the mail.  When's the last time you actually mailed a card you made?  I'm a slow mailer and it's a struggle to get to a post office, but I love to send out my cards and will head there this week!  I'm challenging you to get a few out in the mail this week too!  And I'm challenging you to create something Coffee, Tea or Cocoa and link it up over at the Coffee Hop!

Positively Beautiful Negative Spaces With Stencils!

I'm up on the CAS-ual Fridays Blog today and sharing with you a technique I used during the new release with Ken Oliver Color Bursts and some of the new stencils available in the shop!

My favorite stencil at the present time seems to be the Starlequin stencil... especially with this technique... I think it's all of the detail but it still has wide open spaces to give the colors lots of room to blend.  This is the watercolor paper I used.  I can't say if it's my favorite, but it worked well, and I got it on sale!  I cut my watercolor panels ahead of time and had two ready to go!  Have a little spray bottle of water ready too.

You'll want to protect your surface because this is messy... or maybe you don't... lol!  I'm not the boss of you!  I layed my stencil over one of the panels and sprinkled some Chartreuse and Lime Color Burst powders over the top in a random pattern.  It seems some of my bottles come out heavy and some not so much, but it's better to start out light and you can always add more!

I prayed on some water... you may want to tape down your stencil, but I didn't.  I don't mind if a little sneaks underneath... To me it adds to the beauty!  I sprayed a good amount of water on mine... a little at a time and just watch the beautiful colors do what they do.. mixing and swirling.  When you think it's enough, just lift off the stencil..

You'll want to be careful that all of that extra color doesn't slip off the top!  Move your first panel aside and put the fresh one in place.  It's ok if it takes you a longer than you plan... the oven dings... you have to chase after the dogs or the kids... because you can always spritz it with more water before you flip it over and smoosh it on top of your fresh panel!

I make sure to press down on mine..yeah.. my hands are a mess when I'm done...but I don't care!

And when you lift that one up, you have two beautiful panels to work with!  The hardest part is deciding which one to use!  I closed my eyes and picked because I love them both!

I cut the Bubble Box die out of some water color paper and used a bit of the Chartreuse powder to watercolor it.  I'm impatient so I used a heat gun to dry this piece so I could stamp it with that inspirational sentiment from the Dream Then Do stamp set (LOVE that set!)  I popped it up and splattered a bit of shimmery watercolor over the top.

I cut some leaves using the Garden Fri-Dies from green cardstock and cut some flowers from some yellow Sparkling Sheets using the 4 Petals Fri-Dies.

Isn't that background yummy??  Well, I love it anyway.

And that's me for today!  Hope you'll give this a try!  This is just one of the many mediums you can use with these beautiful stencils and right now it's one of my faves.  I just love the unexpected results each time!
