A Merry Ornament Shaker with CAS-ual Fridays Stamps!

HelloI hope your holiday season is full of love and peace in the midst of all of the hustle and bustle!  I have a card for you today using one of my fave dies in the CAS-ual Fridays shop, Ornament Tag Fri-Dies!

I love this die set because you can make it a shaker or not!  Usually I do because it's so easy and I love shakers!  I just place the two circles together, the smaller inside the larger, on my paper and use some washi tape to hold them still and then run them through my Gemini.

I just add a piece of acetate on the inside of the frame I've created and then add foam tape around the entire frame.   The small circle became my background to my ornament because I wanted the whole ornament to be gold this time.  I added my gold sequin mix within the smaller circle and then placed the windowed frame over the top.  I've used this ornament to create a fall ornament... it's good for any season!  It also comes with cool ornament holder and hanger dies that are hard to see in this pic, but I just love them... the curly delicate hanger is so pretty!

I embellished my ornament with the Mistletoe image from the Mistletoe and Holly stamp set cut with the coordinating Fri-Dies (I love how detailed the dies cut and they come with some cute little word dies too!).  I stamped, colored and cut two and the second one was cut apart and added underneath the first.

I'm playing along over at Double Trouble Challenges Earn Your Stripes Challenge and Cupcake Inspirations Holiday Challenge!  You should check them both out!

Should you decide there is something you need to have, I have this for you:

And that's me for today!  So happy you stopped by to spend a little of your busy season with me!  Hope you'll come again soon!  Hope whatever holiday you celebrate that you get a chance to enjoy it!

CAS-ual Fridays-Stretching Your Stamps and Dies

Welcome back!  I'm up on the Cas-ual Fridays blog today I'm sharing with you a card I made using some themed dies but used them in maybe an unexpected way.  Here's what I made:

So I was chatting with a friend and she was talking about her decision to buy the Ornament Tag Fri-Dies over the Acorn Fri-Dies... of course she wanted both, but sometimes you have to choose and I thought .. yeah... because it will soon be time to switch from autumn themed cards to Christmas so it made sense... and then I thought about the ornament die and thought... why not use it for an autumn themed card?!  Ornaments aren't just for Christmas!

I had planned on making a Thanksgiving card already and colored this little fox from the Bushy Tailed stamp set because I knew I was going to use him along with the Acorn Fri-Dies.   I colored him with Copics and texturized him using some terrycloth and blending solution (a quick photo tutorial regarding this is here if you missed it).

Then when I decided on the ornament, I pulled out some pretty autumn colored papers from Pink & Main and cut out my pieces to create a shaker.  This is my favorite way to use the Ornament Tag Fri-Dies, but you don't have to make a shaker with it!  It's very versatile!

And when I thought about what I'd fill my shaker with I decided on these pretty sequins from Paper Sweeties and thought a few acorns would be cute!  So I stamped some of the tiny acorns from the Autumn Blessings set in a sand colored ink and did a little no line coloring... cut them out and added them to my mix... I'll be honest.  I was a little worried about them possibly flipping over so I glued them in place.  I didn't want them to look glued in place or get covered so a couple I glued on top of a sequin and stuck one under my popup tape and glued that in place.  I love the way they look!

Then I die cut some leaves using the Acorn Fri-Dies out of some paper that was previously created using the Shaving Cream Technique (I'll think I'll share this oldie but goodie with you next post!) and some flowers from the Garden Fri-Dies were cut out of some previously watercolored paper).

And!  In the spirit of stretching your products, I used the Happy word die from the newly released Happy Hanukkah Fri-Dies and stamped and embossed the Thanksgiving from the Autumn Blessings stamp set to build my sentiment.

And as a side note... she did end up getting both...lol!

One more look:

Hope you've enjoyed your stop today!  And hope I've inspired you to look at some of your stash in a different way!  Should you decide to shop, here's this for you:

Today I'm sharing with you a couple items I made using some awesome products from The Cutting Cafe, one of the sponsors for this hop!  Here's what I've made for you today!

If you've been with me for a while you may remember these little jars that my friend Mitra and I painted when I got to spend the day with her over the summer!  The jars were a clear blue color and she showed me how to use mirror paint to give it a cool mercury glass kind of finish... the paint goes on the inside... it's pretty cool!  Anyway, I thought one of them would be perfect to hold a little holiday decor/centerpiece!  When I thought about what to put in it, I decided not just some traditional Christmassy foliage but something different and I thought of these shaker ornaments from The Cutting Cafe.

I always wish for Peace for the holidays... if I could have anything that's what it would be so I just love these ornament shaped shakers because they contain the perfect sentiment.  And my order of My Minds Eye Sugar Plum paper from The Cutting Cafe Shop came just in time... oh my... I'm gonna need another one of these pads... beautiful beautiful colors and gorgeous patterns... love it!

AND my custom stamp came just in time too to offer up a cute holiday sentiment as well... Happy Owl-idays... lol... cute, right?  I picked a few digital images from The Cutting Cafe and gave Regina the images and sizes I wanted... a quick proof.. and it was on its way to me soon after... I am so excited about it and I'll put a pic of it at the end of this post.

The snowflakes are also from the shaker cutting files... see that little snowflake on the ornament?  I just resized it a few times and cut a few out of some seaglass and white glitter papers.  And that foliage... more clearance holiday foliage from Michael's end of season sale last year.

I also decided to use this week's Atlantic Hearts Sketch to create a card with the Sugar Plum papers, some extra snowflakes and my adorable custom stamp set:

Tee hee!  I think I might make some more of these... and yup!  That plaid is in the Sugar Plum pad.  #madforplaid  I'm pretty sure that twine came wrapped around one of my Cutting Cafe orders and the sequins are those fantastic clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

Today I've made a couple more ornaments... I love to make ornaments out of all of my papercrafting supplies!  For these I've decorated some premade ceramic ornaments I got at Hobby Lobby.. they came as white ceramic ornaments and this is what they look like now:

So... if you didn't know it before... you know now... I LOVE gold... it's just my fave and it goes with almost anything.... no... anything!  So the first thing I did was use some shimmery gold acrylic paint and painted a couple layers on the ceramic ornaments.  Once that was dry, I stamped on the ornaments using a couple old CTMH background stamps with Memento Ink.

After the ink was dry, I used a lace stencil and added some clear texture paste to create some cool texture and sparkle without covering up the background.  You can see it a little better here:

Looks way better in person... but there it is.  And then once that was dry, I added my flowers feathers and bling.  And I'm excited to be playing along with Color Dare Challenge this week!  Love it when they include Gold in their colors and this combo is delicious in my opinion!.

Of course I added some Nuvo Gold Mousse to the flowers.  And those pretty sparkly gold leaves... cut them off of some really cool floral picks I got at Michael's after the holiday season last year for almost nothing.  And my favorite gold bling gems make an appearance as well.  I stocked up on them when CTMH discontinued them.

I used black instead of white on this one... and an extra leaf die I had cut out of gold vellum.. an extra from my table.  Like a good momma... I don't have a favorite ... I love them both equally and for different reasons... they are alike yet different!

Yum.

There are bunches of wonderful sponsors for this event and lots of prizes for commenting on the designers' blog posts:

Pretty cool, right??? So with all of that said, here we go!

Today I'm joining some of my Paper Sweeties teammates and my project includes some great Paper Sweeties products:

So I was emptying out one of my little packages of flowers the other day and I looked at the packaging and thought.. I could make a dimensional shaker ornament out of this!  So.. I did!

Here's what it looked like before I started:

So I started by measuring the size of the package and then I created my little scene... starting with some cardstock... I layered on the design paper with some birch trees on it... then I used a die to cut out the birch tree cutouts and popped those up.  Then I stamped and colored up my reindeer from PS Jingle All The Way stamp set and the Christmas Tree from the Trim the Tree Stamp set.  I also cut some sparkly snow mounds using the landscape die from the Tree of Life Sweet Cuts.  I used lots of layers of popup tape to give them all different dimensions.

Then I attached the scene to the inside of the packaging.  I swiped some glue on the bottom of the box and dumped in a bunch of glass beads (the glue was to be sure some of the beads stayed attached to the bottom so no one would see the ugly parts of the inside of the container)... and some beautiful Paper Sweeties clear irridescent Sugar Sprinkles Sequins.

I closed it all up and secured it with some washi tape and Modge Podge.  More Washi Tape on the top along with more Modge Podge.  I also Modge Podged some birch paper on the back of the ornament.  When it was dry (kind of) I used a stencil and some clear texture paste and added some snowflakes to the front of the ornament... glued on some more PS Sequins and then added sparkly texture paste to the edges.

I used some lacy ribbon for hanging and some felt flowers from my stash.  I cut off the leaves that were on them and cut some holly leaves from the Holly Days Sweet Cuts out of glitter paper and attached them instead.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and be sure to come back tomorrow because we're doing it all over again!  It seems my theme for this event is ornaments... I have a couple more for you tomorrow!
