Happy Birthday Grrrrlfriend! - Miss Ink Stamps

I'm using some stencils today for a fun mid mod/Lisa Frank kind of card...lol!

I started by adding Distress Oxide Inks in rainbow colors using the Art Deco Stencil.   Then I added the foliage using the Artsy Abstracts stencils and Black Soot ink.  I used Pixie Tape to mask any areas and there are intricate cuts in the stencil so you'll want to use Pixie Spray to hold it in place.

Then I used the Tiger Portrait stencil set for the tiger and fussy cut it out.  I popped the Postage frame up over it and tucked the tiger into the corner of the frame.

Finally I used the Slim's Whims stamp set and Everyday Sentiments.

Thanks for stopping!  Come again soon!

Mid Mod Inspiration - Wild Style

Hello!  Well, I had one more Mid Mod inspired project to share and it didn't quite go the way I thought, but I love it anyway and I hope you do too!

This was my original inspiration and I've been rolling that around in my head for a while.

And then I stumbled on these (and of course now I want a bunch of these).  And finally landed on this:

I used the Tiger stencil and some small detail blending brushes to color the tiger stripes.  The plan was to add the foliage from Artsy Abstracts and leave the rest white, but I got a little sloppy with the black so I masked off everything and added the leaves around the whole thing as well as a little bit of shadow around the Tiger.  Finally a splattering of acrylics forgave everything and I'm in love!

Although this didn't turn out as I had imagined it, I didn't give up on it and I'm so glad I didn't!  Now if you'll excuse me... I may have some shopping to do!

Thank you so much for stopping!  I hope you'll come again soon!

A Mid Mod Bouquet - Miss Ink Stamps

Welcome back!  I've got some more Mid Mod Abstract Art for you today!  This time I decided to use the Artsy Abstracts to create some flowers!

All of the shapes are from the stencil set and I added some touches of Nuvo Drops.  I even used the triangles to create some butterflies!

I had a lot of fun with this one!

Here is my inspiration:

Planning one more for you next week if it works out so stay tuned!  Thanks so much for stopping and I hope you'll come again soon!

Miss Ink Stamps - To Perk You Up - Mid Mod Coffee

I'm sharing another card using the Artsy Abstracts stencil from Miss Ink Stamps and some Mid Mod inspiration and this time it's caffeinated!

I used the large "blobs" to create a coffee colored background and then stamped some of the images from the Brewtiful stamp set and used the detail stencil to add some steam.  I stamped the images in brown Memento ink instead of the usual black.  I decided to cut the cup from Brewtiful out and color it and pop it up with thin foam tape as well as the sentiment.

So... Mid Mod Caffeine!

And here's my inspiration:

That's me for today!  Thank you so much for stopping!  Come again soon!

Miss Ink Stamps - Mid Mod Valentine with Artsy Abstracts

I'm back with some more Mid Century Modern Art inspiration using the Artsy Abstracts Stencil Set with a few other things.

I thought there were a few shapes on Artsy Abstracts that felt like hearts... so I used them with some reds and pinks to create a floating line of hearts.  I added some pattern to them with Perfectly Plaid and Lava Lamp as well.  Then I used the detail stencil from Artsy Abstracts to add some cool geometric accents as well as a couple tiny solid hearts.  Finally I added a rose from the Climbing Roses stamp set and a sentiment from Sunshine & Rainbows.

I've been having a lot of fun with this art form and I have another fun one coming next week!  See my inspiration for this one below.

I don't have all of the colors of Oxides... but I'm working on it slowly but surely!

I love these heart shaped bowls and ...

Reds and pinks on these drawers of course made me think of Valentines!

Thanks so much for coming!  Be sure to come back soon!

Miss Ink Stamps - A Mid Mod Rainbow

Welcome back!  How about some Mid Mod for your Friday?!  I'm playing with the Artsy Abstract Stencils in February and for today, a rainbow of sorts.

I started with a rainbow of Distress Oxides using the Artsy Abstracts small shapes.  I used Pixie Tape to mask off the stencil shapes I wasn't using.  Then I used the Rainbow Builder stencils and Black Soot Distress Oxide to add the rainbow and then the sun from the Rainbow Sky Stencil Set.

I added some accents with Black Glitz Glitter Gel to both the rainbow and the sun.  And finally some simple butterflies from the Say Cheese stamp set and a few sequins.  A simple sentiment from Sunshine and Rainbows was just right.

Here are some of the pics that inspired me for this one:

Cool, right?  It might not be my favorite art style, but it sure is growing on me.

Thanks so much for stopping!  I hope you enjoyed it!  And stay tuned for lots more Artsy Abstracts!

Go Bananas - It's Your Day - Miss Ink Stamps

Hello!  I've got lots of fun for you today!  I'm using the Artsy Abstracts Stencil set again with some black glitz glitter gel for the background.

I taped off the sides of the panel, ink blended the center and then used the stencil to add some fabulous accents.  Here's a quick video showing how I created it:

Easy peasy, right??

Then I colored up one of the monkeys from the Go Bananas stamp set and added a hat and balloon from Punny Farm Pigs.  I placed him in a Happy Birthday frame die cut from MFT Stamps.

The current sketch over at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge was perfect for this one!  So I'm playing along there and at Double Trouble Challenge Blog YouNique Technique "Create Your Own Background"!  They're partnering this month and this sketch is good through the 26th of June at Atlantic Hearts and after that there's a new sketch through the end of the Double Trouble Challenge!

Great sketch, right?!

Thanks so much for stopping!  I hope you'll come again soon!

Miss Ink Stamps Stencil Week - Tiger Portrait and Alcohol Ink

Welcome!  It's Stencil Week over at Miss Ink Stamps and we're sharing projects this week using some new stencils in the shop!

For this one I created two alcohol ink backgrounds on EVO Paper and saved one for the background and stenciled the large leaves from the cool new Artsy Abstracts set... a fabulous four stencil set that includes some cool abstract shapes and patterns.

I stenciled this large leaf onto one of the alcohol inked panels and then cut it out and used it as an embellishment behind that awesome Tiger Portrait.  This one is also a four stencil set and I stenciled that beautiful cat with some Distress Inks and cut it out as well.

Having lots of fun playing with alcohol ink this month!  Did you know it's easy to add a little foil sparkle to your alcohol ink panels!?

Check it out:
