Honoring Juneteenth With Rubbernecker Stamps

Welcome back!  I've got some special cards for a special day today.  I've created a couple uplifting cards in honor of Juneteenth, or Freedom Day, a celebration of the end of slavery.  Unfortunately, there were two and a half years in between the time that the Emancipation Proclamation was issued and when word reached all the way to enslaved people in Texas.  But on June 19, 1865 notice was finally delivered.   It’s a day of celebration but also of remembering and for many, learning.

We've got extra reason to celebrate this year because it looks like Juneteenth will be a Federal holiday which is long overdue.  The bill passed with an overwhelming majority and President Biden has signed it into law!  While this is good news many of us have much to learn yet and I highly recommend the podcast Scene On Radio which is a perfect place to start…and what better day to start??  Start at the beginning and listen to every episode.  Lots of history and personal stories and it covers so many different subjects.  I dare you to come away without learning something about the human condition and even yourself.

Whether it’s celebration, remembering, or learning and understanding, I hope you enjoy your day and am sending much love and hope out to all.

I was inspired by a piece of art I'd seen recently for these.  And I thought that the symbolism of change and vibrant joy that butterflies evoke was perfect for these cards.

Not to mention these beautiful ladies and uplifting sentiments.  Rubbernecker has a fabulous section of African American images in the shop and lots of fabulous sentiments.

Sending love out to all of my friends today.  This a day that I'm sure is filled with many emotions, but that it will now be recognized nationally makes today a good day.  And while Freedom Day came on many different days for many different people, and we still have a way to go, we now have a day when we can all recognize the significance together.

Thank you so much for coming and hope you'll come again soon!

Miss Ink Stamps - Neon Flock Daisies

Hello!  Welcome back!  Today I'm playing with some Fun Flock which is like foil... but fuzzy!  lol!  I made this panel with my Gel Press with some acrylic paints and the Oopsy Daisy stencil Then when it was dry, I placed the stencil back over the top and applied some Deco Foil Transfer gel through just a portion of it.

I stamped, colored and cut the images from the Say Cheese stamp set while I waited for it to dry.  Then I got out the Rina K Designs Neon Flock in Poppin' Pink and ran it through the Minc to apply it.  I'd say that pink is poppin'!

Then I just added the photo frame and all my images with popup tape.  The sentiment is from Everyday Sentiments... one of the best all around sentiment sets.

Thanks so much for stopping!  I hope you enjoyed it and you'll come again soon!

Miss Ink Stamps-Hola!

Hello!  I've got some more Miss Ink and some more foil for you today!  I used quite a few things on this one!

I started with a mini slimline panel and blended some Abandoned Coral and Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxides through the Ins and Outs: Hollywood stencil.  Then before removing the stencil I placed the Chevron stencil over the top and blended more Abandoned Coral over the entire area leaving a very faint chevron stripe.

Again leaving the Ins & Outs stencil over the base, I placed them both into the Misti and used a small brayer and some Heidi Swapp Toner Ink to add the ink to the images from the Pinata stamp set and stamped them onto the panel.  I also stamped the pinata image onto some white cardstock.  Then I foiled both the panel and individual pinata using Thermoweb Summer Rainbow Deco Foil and my Minc!  Finally, I splattered some Heidi Swapp Gold Color Shine over the top with a paint brush.

Finally, I cut the Hola letters out of some previously alcohol ink and foiled paper that happened to be just the right colors and a white strip.  The EI EI O dies make a few different words and I love that font!   I assembled the card, added a few sequins and done!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hope you'll come again soon!
