Welcome to the Release Rewind for the Paper Sweeties May 2018 Release! Today I'm using both the new Hey Y'all Sentiment Stamp Set and the Treat Box Dies to create a couple Peachy projects for you!
This Treat Box Sweet Cuts set is pretty awesome! Not only do you get the actual Treat Box, but quite a few very cute little word dies and a heart and arrow shape. The picture above gives a little insight as to the size of this cutie... the card is a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4" notecard sized card.
This die is so easy to use, but when you first get it, if you've never used a die like this, you may say, huh? So, I've created a quick photo tutorial for you with some tips that helped me. I put this box together (including photos) in about 15 minutes!
You will need to start by cutting two of the treat box dies. I prefer to use a cardstock for my actual box to make it sturdier.. the heavier the better.. but you can just make it out of design paper if you are adding lightweight items to it. I used regular old scrapbooking cardstock from CTMH for this one. Once I had both cut, I folded at the scored lines that the die leaves and then I added adhesive to the bottom of one side and attached the two pieces leaving them flat for layering.
I also love to add layers to my treat box then of whatever design paper I want to use. The measurements above will cut the rectangles for the two sides and the "roof" if you will and leave a 1/8" border of the base cardstock. Then I cut an extra end piece with the die out of some kraft cardstock and cut that part out, trimming off the flaps as well. I measured in 1/8" from all sides leaving a dot (you can still see some little black marks where my dots were). I trimmed around it and this will be a pattern for me to cut my layers for the ends of the box. I wrote my other measurements right on it because I'll keep this piece with my die set so I an re-use it and it will be that much easier the next time!
Then while it was flat, I added all of my layers onto the box. I wanted the box to be able to be opened without tearing it apart, so I added adhesive to all of the flaps except the two indicated and assembled the rest of the box.
And Voila! The top can be opened and for gifting you can close it shut by tying some ribbon through the handle like I did here or use a clip of some sort which can hold both a tag or other items and keep the box shut but still allow easy opening! (although you may want to tell the person ahead of time so they don't just rip it open to get whatever is inside, out!...lol)
And here it is finished... don't you just love those sweet little word dies???
Not to mention the fun Southern flavored sentiments from the new Hey Y'all stamp set...
Thanks for stopping again! Be sure to check out what everyone else has for you today and come back soon!
